FSB offers help saving for the holidays

It won’t be long until Christmas, and First Service Bank has a great and convenient way to save year-round for those holiday expenses.

“Saving for the holidays has never been easier,” said Bethany Hoyt, assistant FSB branch manager in Marion County. “The FSB Christmas Club Account is designed to help individuals save money for all those expenses associated with the holidays.”

The account features three different tiers - $5, $10 and $20 – with free online banking, e-statements, mobile banking and no monthly charges. “We set this up to auto-transfer weekly from a separate checking or savings account, so the customer never has to touch it after the first deposit,” Bethany said. “At the end of the club year, there will be an automatic transfer to the checking/savings account for the annual disbursement of money saved.”

Christmas Club accounts can be opened between November 1 through April 30.

Bethany pointed out that while it is not an interest-bearing account, if 50 deposits equal to the amount of the club type are made, the 51st deposit will be made by the bank. “For example, if a $20 club holder makes their 50 consecutive weekly deposits of $20, the account total will be $1,000. First Service would then make the 51st deposit of $20 into the account, which is essentially a 2% return on your money.”

Anyone 18 years or older is eligible to open a Christmas Club account at First Service. There is a limit of five Christmas Club accounts per person.

“To open a Christmas Club account, stop by any First Service branch and an associate will be happy to assist you with this account and any of your banking needs,” Bethany said. “Let us help you prepare for the 2024 holiday season by making this a touch-free process once the account is opened starting November 1. From our First Service Bank family to yours, ‘Merry Christmas!’”
