First Service spotlights Kristen Varnell

It was the unique family atmosphere and the emphasis placed on patriotism that drew Kristen Varnell to First Service Bank. She considers it the best move she’s ever made in her banking career.

“First Service Bank has provided a work family that I have not experienced in any of the other financial institutions where I have worked. You are truly part of a team here,” said Kristen. “Our focus on our customers is hands down the best I have seen.”

Kristen is a loan assistant and small business and consumer loan officer. She has worked at First Service for four years.

“I help with the loan process from start to finish to make sure our customers are provided with a great experience and excellent customer service,” she said, adding she serves on the bank’s training team, assisting new loan assistants. “I also work with the lending teams to make sure all necessary documentation required to process and close loans is complete.”

A graduate of Mayflower High School, Kristen attended the University of Central Arkansas. She chose banking as a career because it provided an opportunity to help members of her community and assist customers to reach their financial goals.

Kristen remains impressed with the bank’s dedication to veterans and active military, an important factor in her decision to apply at FSB. “I love First Service Bank’s commitment to our veterans and the focus on patriotism. My father is a Vietnam veteran and both of my grandfathers served in the Navy. My son served in the National Guard,” she said. “I love our Operation Red, White and Brave program and think it is amazing that First Service Bank matches dollar for dollar all donations.”

Born in Conway, Kristen lives in Mayflower with her husband, Greg. They have three children and four grandsons. “I enjoy spending time with my family, especially those four grandsons,” she said. “I also like photography, reading and travel.”

Kristen is happy to be putting her 23 years of banking experience to work at First Service. “It has been a blessing. When I joined First Service, it was one of the best moves I have ever made,” Kristen said. “The bank provides an excellent work and life balance that allows me to not only take care of my customers and be a part of an amazing work team but also be present for my family.”
